About the Tibetan Mastiff

The American Kennel Club describes the Tibetan Mastiff as the ultimate guardian dog. Their coats are heavy, and they can stand up to 26 inches at the shoulder. They may look threatening, but they are absolutely devoted to their families and calm around the house. For more information from the American Kennel Club, click the link to learn more.

Is a Tibetan Mastiff Right for Your Family?

We encourage you to carefully consider your home environment before bringing home a Tibetan Mastiff. These dogs are huge and keep their double coats all year long. A Tibetan Mastiff cannot be happy without outside play and exercise and they tend to roam if they do not have a fenced yard. They are bred to be guardian dogs and are excellent protectors of the home. Though intimidating and aloof to strangers, these giants are patient with children when socialized. They are happiest when they know you and you know them; spending time with your dog is important. They are intelligent and independent and a good family member for those who know dogs. We do not recommend a Tibetan Mastiff as a first pet. For more information on the breed, click the link to learn more.

Care and Feeding

Tibetan Mastiffs are clean dogs who have a double coat year around. They may shed in warmer climates, and they do best with regular brushing. They need room to exercise daily, but they are calm inside the home. We encourage a grain free diet which is high in protein. We feel Taste of the Wild Bison and Venison with a little raw fresh meat. Our adult dogs do not require a great deal of food, but growing pups sure do! We also provide reverse osmosis water to make sure they have the cleanest water possible. Our puppies come with their first shots and a health exam. We encourage you to decide on a veterinarian before purchasing your pup.
